Like Lions is the solo project of Seattle-based singer, songwriter, and producer Patrick O’Neill. The one-man-band uses a unique blend of driving synths on top of hip-hop production, all tied together with pure pop vocals that constantly deliver stick-in-your-head melodies.
In 2012, O'Neill partnered with Seattle Producer Ben Kersten (Grand Archives, S., Carrisa's Weird) to release the full-length All Be Fineunder the moniker Like Lions. The act’s name would become the branding for O'Neill’s future solo work in indie-pop; after the collaboration with Kersten, he rapidly released the solo-produced EPs Baby For Days and Hello Ghosts over a two-year span under the same artist title.
O’Neill took a small hiatus from 2016-2017 to focus on recording and releasing a plethora of new material intended for sync licensing, resulting in sixteen 2018-released tracks that eventually became the full-length Music For Indie Films (Volume I).
Under the Like Lions act, new music is coming soon: “Older”, a single released 4/24/2019 was penned celebrating the journeyman’s 30th birthday. Combining a powerful 80s’ synth with a hip-hop beat and O’Neill’s distinct pop-rock vocal delivery, the song is as thoughtful as it is catchy, and marks a return to the commercial music scene.
“Older” is the lead single from “An Aging Millennial” an album that will be out in the fall of 2019. The album focuses on youth, love, and loss, and will be another step in the genre-bending path that Like Lions is paving.
